About an hour southwest of Birmingham, Alabama, in the Southeastern United States, Tuscaloosa is situated along the banks of the Black Warrior River in west-central Alabama.

The UA campus is located about 3 hours from Atlanta, 3.5 hours from Nashville and about 4.5 hours from the beaches of the Alabama coast on the Gulf of Mexico.

Tuscaloosa has a moderate climate with an average annual temperature of 65° Fahrenheit.
