All students may apply via the UA Undergraduate App, and first-time, main campus freshmen have the additional option of applying through the Common App.
INCOMING FRESHMAN
Start Strong at UA.
You have completed, or are set to complete high school, and will be entering college as a first-year student. You may be a domestic, international or online student.
BEFORE YOU APPLY
- The application fee is $50 (nonrefundable), payable by credit or debit card. Alabama residents applying via the UA Undergraduate App pay no fee.
- In order for your application to be considered complete by the priority deadline for your entry term, you must submit your application and all supporting documents.
- If you are an Early College student, use your myBama email address when starting the UA Undergraduate App.
- You’ll create a login with the UA Undergraduate App. Applications cannot be changed after submission.
- A valid email address is required to apply, and all secure communications from UA will be sent there.
- Connect with your UA admissions advisor.

Transfer applicants are not currently enrolled in high school and have completed coursework at a community college, technical college or four-year university. Use the Course Equivalency Tables to confirm how your credits will transfer.

Returning, Visiting or Non-Degree Seeking?
This pathway covers four categories: Readmits who previously attended UA in a degree-seeking capacity; Transients visiting to take classes; Postgraduates who hold an undergraduate degree from any university; and Specials who are non-degree-seeking students ranging from UA staff to members of the public.

- The application fee is $15 for readmission; $50 for transient, postgraduate, and special applicants. The fee is nonrefundable and payable by credit or debit card.
- Applications cannot be changed after submission. You’ll create a login with the UA Undergraduate App.
- A valid email address is required to apply, and all secure communications from UA will be sent there.
- A CWID number will be available in the application portal within 72 hours of submission for myBama access.

What is the UA application fee?
There is no application fee for Alabama residents for the 2027 entry terms. The application fee for out-of-state and international students is $50 for the 2027 entry terms.
Does UA require ACT or SAT scores?
UA is updating its holistic admissions review process for students applying as first-year undergraduate students for the 2027 and 2028 academic years. Students applying for a 2027 entry term will be required to submit a standardized test score (ACT or SAT) if their cumulative high school GPA is below 3.0. What happens after I submit my application?
After you submit your application, access the steps to enrollment page for your applicant type to complete the steps or submit the documents that may be needed. You can monitor your application status through your applicant portal and will be notified once an admission decision has been made.
