Steps to Enrollment

First-time freshmen applying for summer or fall 2024 should follow these steps to complete enrollment at The University of Alabama.

The University of Alabama offers rolling admissions, but does have priority deadlines for some steps in the enrollment process. We understand that delays in the 2024-2025 FAFSA timeline has created additional stress for prospective students and families. UA will continue to assist admitted students with their steps to enrollment after National College Decision Day on May 1. Please contact your recruiter, or call Undergraduate Admissions at 1-800-933-BAMA, to discuss your timeline and goals.

(First-time freshmen applying for spring 2024 can find a slightly adjusted Steps to Enrollment for Spring 2024 at the bottom of this page below the summer/fall 2024 list.)

Step 1 – Apply for Undergraduate Admission

UA’s application is straightforward and easy to fill out – it even includes your scholarship application. Be sure to submit all required supplemental documents to complete both applications. Students who submit an application and all supporting documents by January 15 will receive priority consideration for admission. Admitted students who meet the priority deadline will be considered for competitive scholarships and automatic merit scholarships. Students who submit an application and all supporting documents after January 15 will be considered for admission on a space-available basis. Find out more about how to apply.

Scholarships and Financial Aid: Explore UA’s Affordability Toolkit and learn how scholarships, grants and federal financial aid can make your UA education attainable and affordable.

Step 2 – Freshman Enrollment Deposit

Save your spot in the incoming class by submitting your $200 nonrefundable Freshman Enrollment Deposit. This deposit will be applied towards your first semester’s tuition at UA and must be paid before you can apply for housing or register for Bama Bound Orientation.

Step 3 – Housing Application

Is room selection important to you? Complete your housing application by February 1 to participate in room selection. Students who complete their application after this priority date will be assigned a room. There is a $175 housing application fee and prepayment to Housing and Residential Communities.

Step 4 – Bama Bound Orientation

Register for Bama Bound, UA’s new student orientation. Registration opens in early February. Bama Bound includes a visit with your college or school to learn about different opportunities to be involved in your major and to meet with an adviser to register for your courses.

Step 5 – Immunizations

Submit the Medical History Form and Proof of Immunization to the Student Health Center immediately upon admission to UA.

Step 6 – Welcome to Campus

We can’t wait to see you on campus. Learn more about move-in.
