Transfer Steps to Enrollment

Transfer students applying for summer or fall 2024 should follow these steps to complete enrollment at The University of Alabama.

(Transfer students applying for spring 2024 can find a slightly adjusted Steps to Enrollment for Spring 2024 at the bottom of this page below the summer/fall 2024 list.)

Step 1 – Apply for Undergraduate Admission

UA’s application is straightforward and easy to fill out – it even includes your scholarship application. Be sure to submit all required supplemental documents to complete both applications. Students who submit an application and all supporting documents by March 1 will receive priority consideration for admission. Admitted students who meet the priority deadline will be considered for competitive scholarships and automatic merit scholarships. Students who submit an application and all supporting documents after March 1 will be considered for admission on a space-available basis.  Find out more about how to apply.

Scholarships and Financial Aid: Explore UA’s Affordability Toolkit and learn how scholarships, grants and federal financial aid can make your UA education attainable and affordable.

Step 2 – Submit Your Transcript

Official transcripts are those submitted directly to UA in a sealed envelope by the originating institution. Official electronic transcripts are those submitted directly to UA by the originating institution, normally through a third-party provider such as the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. UA will only accept a transcript directly from the student provided it is delivered in the envelope sealed by the originating institution and marked as official.

Official transcripts being sent via regular mail should be sent to the following mailing address:

Office of the University Registrar
The University of Alabama
Box 870134
Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0134

In cases where an email address is needed for electronic delivery, the transcript should be sent to transfercredit@ua.edu.

Step 3 – Bama Bound Orientation

Registration for Bama Bound, UA’s new student orientation, opens in early February. Bama Bound includes a visit with your college or school to learn about different opportunities to be involved in your major and to meet with an adviser to register for your courses.

Step 4 – Secure Housing

Unlike incoming freshmen, transfer students are not required to live on-campus at UA. Transfer students are able to apply for housing as space allows. For those who would like to live off-campus, there are numerous student-focused apartment complexes and rental houses available in Tuscaloosa.

Step 5 – Immunizations

Submit the Medical History Form and Proof of Immunization to the Student Health Center immediately upon admission to UA.

Step 6 – Welcome to Campus

We can’t wait to see you on campus.
